Making boring stuff look good

I am all about color in pictures. I love the colors that Nikon JPEG’s have.  For landscapes, I will shoot Vivid mode. I maxed the Vivid setting on my camera. I also put the sharpening at automatic.

Today I was shooting my Nikon D850 and my 24-70 2.8. My Nikon D850 is my primary camera. I shoot most of my shots with my 24-70 2.8.  I have the older version, which does not have VR on it. This lens focuses very fast and is sharp wide open. It also is a very tough lens and is weather sealed. I don’t need this since I am not a professional, but it is nice to have a robust build quality.

I also do shoot raw when I go out and shoot. However, unless you use Nikon’s software, most of the settings will not be read by other programs. The only settings that are read are the white balance and a neutral color setting. So, if you are shooting raw, none of the color profiles you set in your Nikon camera will be read by other programs.

I went out and shot Kyle Lake, which is 10 miles south of Austin, TX. This was pretty boring, and it was just a pond. I will post a few shots below that shows how color can make a shot interesting. I have posted a few JPEGS that I shot. I have done a few tweaks in Lightroom; I bumped up shadows and applied Dehazing.
