Dinosaur tracks

I went out and shot some dinosaur tracks in Leander, TX. These tracks are on the San Gabriel River. The hike is about one mile in total distance and follows a creek. It is somewhat rough, so I suggest wearing hiking boots if you have them. At the minimum, you should wear shoes. Also, if it is above 90 degrees, I recommend bringing some water. If it has been raining, the tracks will be underwater.

You can park off of US Highway 183. It will be a parking area, and you will see cars parked there. The park is unmaintained, so there will not be any signs. The tracks are on public land. Below are the GPS coordinates that will take you to the parking lot.

From the parking lot walk about a half-mile along the river bank West to find the tracks. These tracks were made by an Acrocanthosaurus, which is a carnivorous dinosaur. I also will include the GPS coordinates of the tracks.

I snapped off a few pictures and have posted them; I added texture in Lightroom to these photos to increase detail. The tracks make for a pleasant two-hour excursion. If you love history, I recommend this outing.
