With landscape photography, typically, the best photos are taken in the morning or the evening. I recently went out and shot Canyon of the Eagles. This is located on the Northeast part of Lake Buchanan, which is near Burnet, TX. This area host Bald Eagles in the winter.
I went hiking on the Amphitheater trail. You can access the path with the coordinates below. Bear in mind the park entrance will cost eight dollars.
30°52′53″ N 98°26′16″ W
This trail is a three-mile loop and follows the lake on some parts. I picked an ideal time of day and went in the late evening. However, it was hazy so the pictures were mostly blah. Here are just a few snapshots.
As you see, they are not very good. I added dehaze in Lightroom, which helped, but these will never be very good.
I did have one pic that I liked; I shot this picture at 70mm and F/2.8.
I converted to black and white and added clarity along with split toning and vignette. Black and white can help if you want to photograph something and the colors are not very good.
Photography is about getting out and shooting. The more you shoot, the more likely you are to get a few good photos. Even if the conditions bad, have fun shooting and enjoy the activity you are doing.
