When I am hiking and taking photos, and the temperature is above 50 degrees, I typically wear a Magellan shirt. This shirt is 100 percent nylon, and the mesh lining is 100 percent polyester. The material is quick-drying and also has a UPF rating of 20, which is considered good. I have never had a sunburn with this shirt. It is long-sleeved, and you have the option to roll up the sleeves. You can use buttons to secure the sleeves to a loop on the upper part of the sleeve. The front has two pockets which allows me to store my photography gear. The back also has a vent that lets the shirt breathe.
The Magellan shirt is an Academy house brand and is a cheaper version of the Columbia Men’s Bahama 2 long sleeve shirt. I have never used this shirt, but Columbia is a name brand, and the UPF rating is 30 which is considered very good. However, this shirt will be a bit more expensive.
I have several of these shirts, and they are very durable. I have washed my shirts quite a bit, and they are still in good condition. The fit is relaxed, and I recommend getting the size you wear since these shirts are built for being active. If you do want more form-fitting, get a size smaller. This shirt is more functional and is not built to be stylish.
As with any shirt made of nylon, the disadvantage is that it will start to stink. For me, I would rather have a shirt that is a little smelly and quick-drying versus a cotton shirt that will be soaked in sweat.
Overall, I recommend this shirt since it is durable and decently priced.
